This guidance document has been produced primarily to complement the BRCGS Packaging Materials Standard for food contact and non-food contact packaging to help restart operations following the disruption of Covid-19. It will also be relevant to certain products certificated to the Consumer Products Standard such as hygiene-sensitive products and personal protective equipment, PPE. It is intended to help site managers fine tune their product safety management systems to cope with the new position which the industry now faces as restrictions are lifted around the world.
The 12-point plan sets out how sites can manage the safety and quality of packaging faced with external pressures of re-routing of supply chains, heightened hygiene requirements, staff absenteeism and an influx of new temporary workers to the manufacturing industry.
