In depth experience in compliance and consultancy for the meat industry both from a regulatory point of view and from a quality and food safety management implementation and maintenance viewpoint. Working for the public and private sector in the UK since the year 2000. After his tenure in official controls Miguel specialized in setting up, implementing and maintaining food safety and animal welfare systems in the UK meat industry including compliance with competent authority and relevant legislative requirements and food safety and quality systems, especially BRCGS and other certifications (Red Tractor etc.). He also advises and certifies in food export certification to third countries. He co-founded ISO teams and acted as ISO quality manager, obtaining and holding ISO accreditations like ISO 17020, and 14001 and led the ISO auditors teams. He also acts as technical input in management and delivery of a variety of services and contracts/projects, from laboratory testing to religious slaughter, legal advice on animal and food matters etc. His qualifications and professional affiliations include Bachelor Degree on Veterinary Medicine; IRCA Lead Auditor in ISO 9000:2001, RSPHH Intermediate HACCP, RSPHH Advanced HACCP, Graduate Member of the Institute of Meat; Registered Professional Food Mentor by the Institute of Food Science and Technology; Registered Professional Food Safety Manager by the Institute of Food Science and Technology; Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons; designated by the FSA, UK Competent Authority, as an Official Veterinarian since April 2000, and by DEFRA APHA for export certification and advice since May 2000.
