Nick is an experienced assessor. After graduation from the study of biochemistry in England, he focused very much on the quality issues in the manufacturing process.
He has worked in the food industry for six years; in consumer products manufacturing for a further 10 years; distribution/logistics for eight years; and food packaging for five years. He has worked in the Quality System assessment field for seven years and in the product certification field for a further eight years.
He is a registered Lead Auditor in ISO 9001, QS-9000; and the BRCGS Standard for Food Safety; Packaging and Packaging Materials; Storage and Distribution; and Consumer Products; and has experience in ISO 14001, TS16949, OHSAS 18001, and TASC. In addition, he is a qualified trainer for various quality management courses.
As an expert in quality in the food and consumer products industry, he was one of the experts working in the technical committee for developing the BRCGS Standards certification programme.
Whilst working in the soft drinks industry, Nick developed, implemented and maintained a quality system for BS 5750 and for NAMAS (known today as ISO 9001 and ISO 17025). During his time in the weaving industry he upgraded an ISO 9002 quality system to an ISO 9001 system. And whilst working in the packaging industry, developed, implemented and maintained an integrated Quality System incorporating ISO 9001, ISO 18001, ISO 14001 and IIP (called QuEST).
Since 2004 he has become qualified as a BRCGS auditor and trainer, and has developed, implemented and maintained an EN 45011/guide 65 management system to enable the delivery of BRCGS Standards certification.
Since March 2012 Nick has been running his own business (Nick Lengden Limited), and is offering training, consultancy, and a range of audits, consulting with a number of companies and certification bodies.
