The interpretation guideline is designed to accompany Issue 2 of the Global Standard START! and should be read in conjunction with it. This book helps in the understanding of each requirement of the Standard and identifies methods of compliance.

Examples are given to explain the type of documents, procedures and level of detail that would be required by a certification auditor.

While adherence to the guideline does not specifically form part of the requirement to achieve certification to the START! programme (i.e. it does not form part of the audit requirements), companies will find it useful to take into account the topics addressed to demonstrate compliance to the programme requirements. Examples are given as points to consider but should always be used in context relevant to the business. Practices should be able to withstand challenge by an auditor and be in line with good industry practices.
