BRCGS has developed this module to provide a framework for companies to develop an awareness of, and a mechanism for improvement in the containment of, plastic pellet loss which is detrimental to the environment.

There are a number of industry initiatives, including Operation Clean Sweep, and the module is designed to be complementary to these initiatives by providing the means for sites to be externally audited and certificated.

The aim of the module is to expand the scope of the audit against the Global Standard Packaging Materials, Issue 7 but it can also be used with the Global Standard Consumer Products where pre-production plastic raw materials are manufactured into finished products.

It is a requirement that all suppliers undergoing a BRCGS audit to the Global Standard Packaging Materials have access to an official copy of the Standard. Companies must comply with all modules to achieve certification.
