Cemal Gürkan Kara graduated from METU Food Engineering in 1994 and completed his master's degree in International Quality Management in 1999.

His career started with inspection and testing services at the Turkish Standards Institute and continued with working in different organizations that enabled him to gain experience in food processing and supply chain processes including primary production. Ülker Food and AB Holding are examples to leading private sector organizations where he’d worked. He started to his TÜV Nord career and he was first qualified as ISO 9001 and HACCP auditor in 2000, ISO 22000 auditor in 2005, BRCGS auditor in 2006 and IFS auditor in 2007.

He established his own company AGFOCERT in 2004 while conducting assessments in management systems. AGFOCERT has gained many accreditations such as GLOBALGAP, ASC and MSC.

In addition to its certification activities, he is an approved training provider by IFS, GLOBALGAP and BRCGS. He runs various management systems lead auditor training under approval by Exemplar Global.
