After graduating from studying Food engineering at a reputable university in Ankara / Turkey, Derya started working in the food industry focusing on food safety controls, food safety & quality management systems, audits and training since 1999. She worked in a retailer chain as a store manager for three years, in a food manufacturing site as a quality assurance manager for three years and in a Food Laboratory as a project coordinator for five years including inspection and audits.

While working, she also completed a masters degree in Food engineering with a thesis subject on Food Labelling legislation in EU and Turkey. She has been qualified as a trainer in 2019 for BRCGS Food.

Since April 2011 she has been working as a freelance auditor for BRCGS Food and a number of retailers' own standards in the food. Currently, in addition to auditing she is also working as a food labelling / food law advisor for imported foods to Turkey.
