Mario is Costa Rican and Mexican, currently living in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Graduated from Kansas State University, USA. in Bachelor of Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Systems, participated in several workshops and courses on Quality, Food Safety and Environment Management Systems, highlighting the Lead Auditor courses of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 22000 from SAI Global, RAB/QSA. He took an advanced course in Food Safety in Michigan State University - Department of International Agriculture and Toxicology Center, as part of USDA international Cochran Fellowship Program. He is currently writing the thesis for the Master of Management of Sanitary Programs in Food Safety of the University for International Cooperation, UCI.

Since 2002, he founded the consulting and training company Global Standard Central America, with which he carried out several implementation projects of Food Safety, Quality and Environment management systems, under the ISO 22000, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, also involved with training and second-party audits of suppliers of multinational companies in the region.

He was also third-party auditor in ISO 9001 and HACCP certifications for INTECO (Costa Rican Institute of Technical Standards, member of ISO); where he was a member of the Quality and Food committees. He also participated in the national “ISO, Spanish Translation Task Group”, which helped translate the first version of the ISO 22000 standard into ISO-official Spanish.

For more than fourteen years has been a second-party auditor for certification bodies, auditing suppliers in different countries in Latin America. And has done consulting as GlobalG.A.P. “Farm Assurer" and Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, 14001 and ISO 22000.

Mario also teaches FSPCA/FDA recognized Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCQI) and the FSVP (Foreign Supplier Verification Programs) courses as a LEAD INSTRUCTOR part of the US FSMA law.

He speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese and conversational German.
