Ulrich studied Chemistry and finished his PhD in 1988 at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. He started his industrial career in the analytical department of one of the most successful companies for the development and manufacturing of additives for plastics. 1993 Ulrich took over a QC/QA function in the manufacturing of Vitamins and Fine Chemicals for pharmaceutical applications, food, cosmetics and feed and gained experience with regulated environments. 1999 Ulrich joined headquarters of this international company with over 6500 employees as Senior Global Quality Manager. In this position he was responsible for Product Coordination including the maintenance of regulatory requirements and global QC/QA coordinating 13 production sites worldwide. In various functions, he was responsible for numerous trainings (GMP, QM, HACCP, process technology, etc.) performed to QC, QA, production, research and development, regulatory affairs, supply chain, et al. He gained a further qualification in packaging technology and started as Lead Auditor at SQS, Switzerland, in 2007 auditing numerous standards linked to regulated environments like food, feed, cosmetics as well as pharmaceutical industry (BRCGS Packaging, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 15378, etc.). In this position, he was responsible as a product manager for BRCGS Packaging, FSSC 22000, ISO 15378, DIN EN 15593 as a product manager leading the packaging team at SQS.

Since June 1 Ulrich has been self-employed and offers coaching and training for product safety management systems for packaging in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
