About the BRCGS Directory and Verify
The BRCGS Directory is the official database of all audits conducted against a BRCGS Standard. It contains BRCGS audit reports with associated documentation and is updated exclusively by BRCGS-approved certification bodies. Audit reports and certificates are added to the Directory by the auditing certification body after the certification decision has been made, typically within 24 hours.
The BRGCS Directory has two functional areas:
- Private: password-protected area providing access to audit reports and certificates
- Public: open access search tool providing high-level data for certificated status sites only
Data access on BRCGS Directory
The Directory allows users to access BRCGS certificate and audit content via two services:
- VERIFY - a supplier approval tool: Self-service access to Certificates in PDF and data formats. No sharing configuration required – simply access what you need, when you need it.
- AUDITS – extended access to complete audit report documents and certification history: Audit report access requires configuration by the audit report owner via the ‘sharing’ tool in the Directory.
Availability and user guidance
Verify is available now for BRCGS audit owners. A Directory user account is required to access the service. Further information, including guidance on how to use Verify is available below:
Verify will be available for companies that are not BRCGS audit owners in early 2025. To register interest in Verify, please complete this short form.
Directory tools
Both Verify and Audits services provide the following functionality:
Notification alerts
Email alerts relating to certification status changes at ‘favourite’ tagged or shared audits. Notification topics include certificate renewal, expiry and revocation.
Exportable reporting
Export audit information for shared audits and all certificates in .XLS or .CSV format. Report results describe the most recent set of audit information available.
Favourites
Verify allows users to tag individual sites as a ‘Favourite’. Favourite tagged site records can be located instantly via a dedicated filter, removing the need to search for records individually on every visit.
Directory configuration
The Directory requires BRCGS-approved certification bodies to assign site and audit records to an owning ‘Company’ account. This is typically considered to be the legal entity detailed as the audit instructing client in the contract to audit.
Company accounts act on a ‘head-office’ basis and can have as many sites and/or audit records assigned to it as appropriate to the requirements of the client. This structure allows user account holders associated to a company to access all audits and sites linked to that company from a single account.
Identification and accurate configuration of an audit record to the correct company account, is the exclusive responsibility of the auditing certification body acting under contract.
FAQs
Who can access our audit details on the Directory?
Audit report documents and related content can be accessed exclusively by:
- The company nominated as the audit report owner by the issuing certification body
- Companies who have been granted access to the report by the audit report owning company following configuration of the ‘Sharing’ tool within the Directory.
Certificate documents and data can be accessed by Verify subscribers unless document access is restricted by the company nominated as the audit owner. Verify does not permit audit report access for any user.
Why can't I find my sites audit when I sign in to the Directory?
Certification bodies are responsible for ensuring that BRCGS audit reports are accessible in the Directory to the company that owns them. If an audit record is not assigned to a company as the owner, or shared with a company by the owner, it cannot be viewed accessed by that company.
If after signing in to the Directory you cannot access audit report owned by your company, please contact your certification body immediately, providing your Company ID (top left corner of the page following Directory sign-in).
Why can't I find a site listed on the public Directory?
The public BRCGS Directory lists sites that are currently certificated against any of the BRCGS Standards. Expired, suspended or withdrawn status sites are not listed. Certificated sites can also choose to be removed from the public listing. Alternatively, Verify provides access to all site status information regardless of current status.
How do I get my details corrected on the Directory?
Corrections to site name, location and associated audit content can only be edited by the auditing certification body. Persons holding a Directory user account can update basic contact details for their company and its sites on a self-administered basis.
What does 'site code' and 'Company ID' mean in the Directory?
The BRCGS site code refers to a 6 or 7-digit number unique to each audited site. Site codes are location specific, permanent, remaining constant irrespective of changes to site name, certificated status, Standard or auditing certification body. All BRCGS audit reports and certificates detail the relevant site code.
All Company accounts have a unique identifier code known as a ‘Company ID’. Company ID’s can be identified in the top left corner of the page after signing in to the Directory. Providing a Company ID to a certification body will enable the certification body to assign audit reports accurately in the Directory.
